Hi there, did a blunder and transferred 2 btc to the default wallet, which I never use. I have the seed from the installation (I think it is for the default wallet) but I can seem to be able to reset the pw by using the seed from the 1st installation, and I have tried every possible password phrase I normally would use.

when i try to restore, (restore - new wallet name - paste seed) nothing happens, except that i got another empty wallet.

So I promise 0,2 BTC in bounty to anyone that can be so gentle to help me access my default_wallet btc again.

Probably you have the wrong seed and that's why the wallet comes empty even after restoring. Even if the bounty is not 0.2 btc but 2 btc when you lose the password in Electrum even the persons who have programmed electrum cannot recover it for you. Try to find the real seed of the wallet where you send the funds, that's your only option here. Don't bother cracking or trying stuff like that cause it doesn't work out with Electrum. If you don't remember the real Seed I am sorry but nothing can be done.

As cereberus has said, your seed is probably wrong.

If you have the correct seed, your electrum will generate the exact same wallet as before, but without a password (as this information is not stored in the seed).

I would think really careful if this really is your correct electrum seed, or that it may be a seed from something else or a time where you just used it for testing.

Did you try an empty password?

if your seed is wrong, like one letter missing or using a wrong word as in 1 wrong in 13 words then the "Next" button in the window you entered your seed will not be enabled (it stays gray).
so you are using another seed that you have saved for another purpose, it may be another wallet that you created a while before!

Did you try an empty password?

if you don't set a password for your wallet (empty password), Electrum will not ask you for any passwords.

Thx for your responses all. I guess my best chance is to check if i can continue my variations of pw's since I use 3-4 different phrases with variations with most pw's. Must get it right in the end...

Also considering the https://walletrecoveryservices.com/ services to run a brute force attack finding the wallet pw. Anyone know if they are trustworthy?

Does the wallet have familiar addresses in it? Look under addresses tab. Look under "used" too on that tab. Does it have familiar addresses?

What do you see on the bottom right of the window? Is the network connection icon green or red? Try switching to a different server by clicking on that icon. Some servers are lagging behind these days.

As cereberus has said, your seed is probably wrong.

Seed has a checksum in it so if it was wrong the wallet would never have been restored. Electrum would not have allowed it.
