That Pizza Index thing is so mean...LOL

Poor guy.  People are going to rub that into his face till the day he dies...which will probably be when he kills himself.

People should be lining up at his door, offering him money, jewels and the finest liquor.

If there is any single story about bitcoin that resonates more effectively with everyone who hears it, I haven't heard it.  laszlo is a goddamn hero.

BTC Books,   you are 1000000% correct.

Some people believe I was being mean for creating the Pizza Index,   that's not the case nor was it the intention.

There are two primary reason the Bitcoin Pizza Index exists.

1 -  Because it's a simple metric that shows how much Bitcoins have appreciated in Value since that point.   3 years ago,  10,000 bitcoins would get you a pizza.   At current growth rates, it's possible that 10,000 Pizzas will get you a Bitcoin.

2 -  Laszlo in Florida did AS MUCH for Bitcoin as Satoshi,  without that transaction people would have never fully understood that you can exchange Bitcoins for real goods.   Bitcoin would have faded into obscurity ,  ASIC Miners would have never been created,  MtGox would not have existed ,  Ounce.Me would not have existed,   and we all wouldn't be talking in this forum.   You have to realize that there are now freaking Hardware companies creating bitcoin mining machines all because this guy bought a Pizza.  We just passed a Billion dollar Marketcap just 24 hours ago.   All because of Laszlo's Pizza.

That's why the Bitcoin Pizza Index exists.

perhaps we should start a fund,  collect 10,000 BTC,  and give it from the community back to him.

Laszlo should setup a contribution address, and everyone can see how much is contributed to it though the blockchain,  it make take a year or 2 to collect that much from bitcents from thousands of contributors  but I believe we (as the community) should start a Laszlo fund.

That's not a bad idea.

I'd contribute - but only if part of the fund went to filling up a swimming pool with pizzas, putting the wallet filled with donations into the middle, and telling him to go grab it.

Ya gotta have some fun, too... Grin

But yeah - I'd contribute to that.
