Are there any new ways to get bitcoin?

I think in order for bitcoin to become widespread, there has to be new easier ways for people to buy them with as less fees as possible. For example where I live(small island in the indian ocean) the only way to get bitcoin was through international bank wire transfer. Your thoughts/suggestions please.
