HI all, just wanted to withdraw some BTC from haobtc and to my surprise they require identification using my passport or China ID  Huh Huh ...  quite surprised as I did not expect it.
Anybody facing similar surprise? Am I the only one who did not notice such major thing during the registration?

It's not such big deal ... I just hate to reveal my identity anywhere.

Always RTFM:

2.What do I need to do to invest in HaoBTC?

Click Sign Up , and activate your account. Following an ID verification process, then depending on your need, you can either use the Wallet or the Financing. In case of the former, the first installment of interest will arrive one hour exactly after your deposit is confirmed with us. In case of the later, the minimum requirement is 10 BTC and you have to wait for a month to see the interest payment deposited to your account.

every local exchange are always providing for id verification but not for the trading site like a polo....  or another global site...
Maybe you're already made the account before the huobi is put a verification id in their security.

Well, that is the rules of of haobtc as members of it, you don't have any choice except you must do the verification your self. And in my opinion haobtc won't their service become place of money laundering. So they apply verification for their members.

I'm used to read the FAQs usually and search in ToS for specific wording (not reading them all as it's very long in most cases) but this is first time I overlooked such thing. My point was that within other services which I use it was always clear to me from the very beginning (some blinking 'not verified', 'limited access' or similar). But OK.. It is clearly written there so fault is on my side.

Things are going even more complicated as I do not have the passport nor China ID. Now I'm trying to get in touch with support and quite curious how this is going to end. At least I will have guidance for other users in similar position.

thank you all for opinions ... especially to pedrog ( your message is very clear )

Whenever we need to deal with the involvement of fiats, we need to produce our identification documents. In my local exchange I am able to trade bitcoin without any documents just with email verification alone.

But whenever I opt for converting bitcoin into fiats and withdrawing it, I need to submit them couple of my documents including my bank account details.

But you can have a passport, they're cheap and the process is quite fast, well at least in my country...

That must be a common practice of most of the exchanges in my country too. Whenever we need the service of withdrawing bitcoins into bank account, we must need to get ourselves verified.

I think a lot of local exchanges(if not all) requires Identity verification for most of their transactions. We got no choice if we want to use their service. So for local exchanges, I always assume they'll always need some sort of verification.

But they'll probably accept other means of identification if you don't have a Passport or a Resident Identity Card (I thought this was mandatory in China?).
As long as its government issued, (driver's license, etc).

You can't blame their service because I guess most of this sites are requiring identity verification so you have to follow their rules if you want to continue their service. And maybe JeffBrad12 is right that yo have already an account before they implement that rules. And if you don't have a China ID you can have a passport

Sorry for the inconvenience.

We hate KYC too, but we had to do it to survive.

For any questions, you can contact us by sending an email to tyler@haobtc.com or surpport@haobtc.com. Normally we will reply it in 24h.

For Chinese users, China ID card is required; for foreign users, you can choose ID card (of course, of your own country), passport, or driving license.
