Hey there,

I'm very new to bitcoin, this is my first attempt to get some into a wallet.

I can apparently receive bitcoins from my Newsagent, with an iPad they have in store and the QR code. Using the mobile app for electrum I open the receive tab, put in an amount and a description. When the cashier scans it, the iPad shows "QR not recognised". He spoke to the techie on the phone and they were no help, saying it must be on the user end. The system they use is called Blueshyft.

I have created a wallet with a seed and currently 0mBTC in there. I have really no idea what I am doing wrong, do I need to verify my QR somehow? I don't know what other options I have or things I can change. Any help is appreciated, as you can tell I am quickly in over my head here!

What are some basic troubleshooting options I can try?

Thanks in advance.

My guess would be that their system isn't very flexible on which QR codes are acceptable.
Have you tried not putting any amount or description in the QR code?
Just a guess as I have no idea what Blueshyft is.

This is the screen I am trying to use, there's not many options so im not really sure what else to do.

I tried it without an amount or description first, and that didn't work either. It seemed like such a straightforward process

I have also tried Mycelium mobile wallet to the same effect.

Is is plausible that they will only accept from wallets from verified sources? Ones that have my identity (coinbase or similar)

Anyway thanks again for your help, much appreciated Smiley

There is nothing wrong with your qr code. The problem is on blueshyft's end. I'd guess that their system doesn't understand the bitcoin uri encoded in the qr code and was only expecting the address.

No. That is impossible. It is impossible to distinguish which wallet an address comes from.

What a hassle - tech support from blueshyft said it seemed like a user end problem (me). I think I will just try another channel.

Thanks so much for your help though!

seems like they haven't fully tested their software. let them know that electrum and mycelium are among the top bitcoin wallets and if they don't support them they will lose out on customers.
