Elevation using a USB Riser

I have an extra Radeon R9 295X2 box lying around since years !!

After I mount that card onto a USB riser and provide power from the PSU to the card using proper cables (just like the other mounted cards on the mainboard),  do I need to provide SATA power to the card as well?
The riser has a 4-pin power cable to SATA cable. Do I need to use that as well?


Also any suggestions on how and where do I place this bulky card. Is it okay to just keep the card on a table? It has a decent cooling system but I am worried about it's physical  balance.

If you can use the 4 pin molex adapter instead of sata to power the riser. I hang my cards vertically from wire racks and use zip ties to hold them. So far doing this with 17.99 3 tier metal racks have been the most cost effective open air case I could find.

Yes, because there is no power transmission through the USB cable. Just data. And the riser board where the card plugs in needs power from the PSU directly (not getting it from the card)

dddrgonzooo, The card does have rectangular metallic gaps but the problem is I will still need to keep the cooling fans attached to the cards on a flat surface somewhere. I have very little faith in the sata to 4-pin cable provided by the riser. When I plug it into the riser board I don't even get that reassuring "tick" sound that it has gotten connected properly.
