I'm using MultiBit wallet, I paid some amount of BTC yesterday at around 11 AM (Local Time) via bitpay. So status at bitpay was paid and successful. But in my wallet I see the status is still "Sending" and not "Sent".
The amount at the destination has not been received yet either.
How long does it normally takes to complete the transfer?
How to know how much more time its gonna take? And is there a way to quicken it up?
And does the time of transfer depend upon the wallet too? Or its independent of that?

Thank you

As you can see on the unconfirmed transactions on blockchain you could able to see how many transactions are on pending and this is the thing most bitcoin users do experience this problem.Confirmations and transaction times would be long and also just want to ask how much fee did you put in when you transfer the said bitcoin? If you put up only small amount then expected the longer the wait you will need.

It is recommended to use the auto fee, meaning the fee that your processor selects for you rather than set it manually, though for faster transactions you could set a higher fee to make sure you get it confirmed in time.
And yes every processor does the transactions differently and I usually use blockchain.io because it has never let me down even if delayed.

Usually it happens when there's so many transactions are processing on blockchain and it takes more than an hour some times you just need to wait for your transaction to be processed and also it is not depending upon the wallet you are using it depends on the amount you have transacted meaning if you sent a little amount expect that it would took longer to be transacted.

whenever you are using any type of wallet and doubt if your transactions were sent (has any confirmation) go on an online blockchain explorer like blockchain.info and check your transactions to see their status and make sure that things like "sending status" was not a wallet sync or server problem.

and for the recipient, as long as you see the transaction confirmed (the number of confirmation may vary from service to service) the recipient must have accepted the payment. if they say otherwise you have to contact them!

for a faster confirmation use this site to learn how much fees you need to include. http://bitcoinfees.21.co

No one knows how long it will take because we need a txid. If you post that we'll look at how many Satoshis per byte you used as a fee and if it's under 60 right now that's why it's taking so long!

To know what fee you should use try https://bitcoinfees.21.co in the future

I did used "auto" for fee. I have checked blockchain.info and for the past 20 hours or so, the estimated time is showing me Very Soon with (High Priority) in green.
I think those stats at blockchain would make much sense and will be useful if they show a timer, show how much more time will it take.
Its really annoying at the moment.

No worries sometimes it might be due to the network issues in your locality. Already you have received it into the unconfirmed transaction tab, so you've received the btc. Conformation time vary though you provide the fee through auto fee option.

the estimated time (priority and the green soon that you see) is from their old system and they have not yet changed the code for that estimation. it works something like this: if your transaction doesn't have any small or unusual output and if the fee is ok based on the size of the transaction it marks it as high priority but that system no longer is applicable.

check out the link i gave you above.

The last week was a chaos, a lot of transactions, most of then in queue...

Just wait more hours or days or just make a double spend...
