Hi i need help because i forgot the password of my account and i want to change the password..
It is been 1 year never change the password  for got it because when i was using my chrome it is automatically logged in or never logout my account in my browser.

I am afraid to reset or use the forgot button because i heard that it will lock your account if i use those button forgot password and question and answer before you can recover your bitcointalk account..

I hope someone can help me.. Also if you want a proof i am the owner of this account i can give you a sign message so that no one can say that this account was hacked..

Have you registered an email or security question in your profile? If you have done so you can reset the password via email or security question.

If you haven't done any of the above try PMing Cyrus with a signed message from an old address.

If you have access to the email account associated with your forum account, you can reset your password with email.

DO NOT USE THE SECURITY QUESTION. Using that will result in your account being locked.

Otherwise you should contact theymos and provide a signed message.

I am afraid to reset or use the forgot button because i heard that it will lock your account if i use those button forgot password and question and answer before you can recover your bitcointalk account.
Recovering the account via the security question will lock it for security reasons, as those leaked in the past.
Resetting your password via your email will not, however it will be shown on your trust page.

Also if you want a proof i am the owner of this account i can give you a sign message so that no one can say that this account was hacked..
You can create a Reputation thread, and sign a message saying something like
"today is [date] and I, BitMaxz have resetted my password via email. I am still the original owner of the account".
In that case, you can point trading partners to that thread in case they ask questions about your password reset.

Thanks for the answer and it helps me to prove that it will not lock my account if i use the forgot button my email is still there and i think i can recover it soon since i can be still logged in here i will do it to change it tomorrow and change my account password..
I thought that there is no way to recover our bitcointalk account here and needs to contact the admin if your account was forgot or hacked..
Any way i will lock this and update soon if i recover my password successful..

Update: done changing my password. Thanks for those who are answer my concern..
