Hi everyone.  I'm new at this.  I just saw how much the coins are worth so I bought a GPU and started mining today.  I'm getting 150 MH/s using the 7750 with GUIminer.  Its running at less than 50% fan and 1000/850 (max OC by MSI afterburner..)

Nice, I'm saving up for a rig at the moment. Is the return any good with the current difficulty?

I'm not really sure yet..

however, according to my current [limited] data points, I have about 0.008 BTC in about 8 hours (some of which was messing around with the clock settings and letting my computer fall asleep...)

The power consumption on this model is only 55W, so I should be making about $1/day.

If you can get a MOBO with like 4 PCIe slots so its easy to start expanding.

Try some alt coins next! Right now Litecoin and Novacoin yield around 70% more USD with the same hardware.

55W for motherboard/peripherals/CPU AND GPU!!! Nice.

Even my least energy hungry 7770 card uses over 70W on it's own when being overclocked (undervolts) and my 7950 uses wayyyyyy more.

A 55W rig would be great for linking into a solar set-up on the shed roof. Mine only when the electric is free Smiley

What is the motherboard? A single board computer with PCIe socket?

55W is for the GPU alone.

Clarification: The max consumption the HD 7750 can draw is 55W.  The whole system according to some online calculator that I don't trust is 370 W.

I like your idea about making a solar miner!

Ahhh I see. Sorry I misunderstood. Still 55W for 150MH/s is pretty cool (over 2.7 MH per watt)
