Does the number of IO matter that much? So if 1 chip is rated at 540 vs 296, what exactly does that mean for a hash rate? Or is this negligable?

Im comparing Spartan 6 LX150T chips, and it says Max nukber of user I/Os. And I was wondering what exactly, if any, that has to do with the processing speed of the chip.

Would it be better to get a chip with a higher serial IO, or is it irrevelant?
