Hey-

So I know little to nothing about bitcoin yet I foolishly decided to jump in feet first and purchase ~$300 USD worth.  I bought from Coinbase, and then tried to transfer the bitcoins to Armory where I had set up a wallet.  I have Bitcoin Core installed also.

I tried to transfer the bitcoins to armory, and set up a wallet to do so.  Coinbase says the transaction was complete and even has 685671 confirmations.  Yet my Armory wallet says I do not have any bitcoins.  Can someone please let me know what I did wrong and if there is any hope of me getting my bitcoins back?

Thanks.

Bitcoin Core needs to be fully synced, and then Armory needs to sync as well (really building databases off of Core data). You won't see your Bitcoin until you are synced.

Stop Armory and Core (if it was running). Then start just Bitcoin Core and let it sync.

What version of Armory are you using? If you downloaded from bitcoinarmory.com, you need to get the latest version from https://btcarmory.com/0.95.1-release/ instead (developers changed earlier this year).

I have Version 0.94.1 installed.

When I run core it says "No Block source available..." at the bottom.  Does this mean its not syncing?

Install 0.95.1 from the link I gave you earlier.

Yes. Make sure that you have port 8333 open in your firewall for both incoming and outgoing connections. Also, please post your debug.log file. You can find it by going to Help > Debug Window and click the Open button.

Is there a way to check if I have port 8333 open?  using a mac.

I opened the debug log but it seems like too much text to post.

There are ways to check if you are accepting connections on port 8333 but those are not really applicable. You just need to make sure that all outbound connections are allowed. How to do that in a mac, I don't know.

Copy and paste as much as you can from the bottom into a new paste at http://pastebin.com/ and then post the link here.

It looks like you do have connections but something is causing the connections to shortly die (socket times out). I don't know why that would happen, but because it does, you are unable to download any more blocks and get fully synced.

Update-

Bitcoin Core has fully synced.  However I tried installing the latest version of armory from the link you provided-  after unzipping the .tar.gz file and clicking on Armory, nothing happens.  I cant seem to get the application to open.  Any help?

Thanks.

Sounds like he's running OSX.

OP: Unzip Armory into /Applications. You should be able to run it from there. If it doesn't start, open a terminal go to /Applications/Armory/Contents/MacOS, and run (w/o quotes) "./Armory". Let me know how that goes.

My clever plan to summon the droark worked.
