Hi all,

My issue with the current decentralized social networks is the lack of a true product / reason for using the platform.

I'm approaching from the other direction - starting with a concrete idea - a unique, crowd-sourced product that would create real-world usage and interest.  (breaking the barrier by bringing in non-crypto user contributions.)

We can all agree that using blockchain is a great way to create/manage a social platform, compensating people for their contributions.  This can be the example that shows this to the mainstream.

This is something that hasn't been created and the world hasn't seen yet.  This idea could work without being on a blockchain.  But it should be.

I'm looking for collaborators to make this a reality.  If you have knowledge of this type of model, please reach out.  This may look like a long shot but the idea is unique and can breakthrough to mainstream.  It's a big picture concept that if executed could create a product that changes the world.

On top of that I have interested brand sponsors, specifically a Fortune 500 company.

Also, maybe have a look into: http://www.synereo.com/

You may be able to learn something from them or add to your own idea.

Look in the announcements thread, there are a few such projects. One of them is already working - Steem, another is under development - Decent. In March Matchpool project will run ICO. They all have their own unique features and specific applications.

Thank you, everyone.

I'm quite familiar with STEEM and their whitepaper.  I've also checked out Respectonomy.

Many of these projects are undertaking the massive goal of revolutionizing the social networking space.

While I agree that things would ideally be run on blockchain - there is a large barrier of entry for these new platforms to enter the mainstream.  Social networks have always been about the product first, not the technology.

I think the people behind STEEM are genius and I love their concept.  Where I have issues with the project is the current form of their product.

My vision is to build a unique social network that works together to build something the world has not seen yet.

The target audience here is non-crypto people.  People will find the site because of the product - not because it's built on blockchain and has digital tokens.

The product would be created from user contributions across the world, which would in turn be compensated in digital tokens based on algorithms that measure virality (similar to how STEEM works).

There is much to learn from STEEM about how to do this.  I would love to collaborate with someone who understands these technical elements at a high level.

Basically, my point is that what I'm trying to build is not a universal platform to up-end existing social networking platforms - but a user-generated product that allows people to see/explore the world like never before.

The fact it is built on blockchain is a sidenote to the project concept, something I think is unique in the emerging ''decentralized social network' space.
