Hi guys

You agree that the majority of this community claims the 1080 not to be very effective at mining, because the potential of this gpu cannot be fully exploited.

Bet let's consider this scenario in these days:
- 1070 costs about 420 EUR - with no oc you get 400 sols, with oc 440 - power consumption 150 W
- 1080 about 630 EUR  - you get 580 sols - power consumption 180 W

In fact, it isn't much worse than the 1070.. and you got better density, same or better effectivity / watt, less money for the risers etc.

Isn't the 1080 worth reconsidering ?

Thank you

I depends on the price : In France, there were some GTX 1080 around 500 euros in January: at this price it is a good buy. At 630, I would prefer the GTX1070 for 420.

Dont forget about LBRY!

1070 --> 270 - 290 Mhash

1080 --> 350 - 370 Mhash

The 1080 uses GDDRX and not GDDR5 which can be worse for mining memory intensive algos like Eth.

Nvidia cards are not that good for mining Ethereum anyway.Better to use AMD cards for Ethereum they are better at it.

 I would also go for the 1070 , you can find it cheaper than 420 Euro though in Ebay (used of course). I say it's really good for mining Zcash or LBRY.

Best miner for NVIDIA (my 750 gtx ) so far is the EWBF's CUDA miner. In such case GTX 1070 is clearly the better option considering the Watt consumption.

The GTX1070 outperforms the AMD.
My GTX1070 does at stock speeds 29MH/s with oc I reach 34MH/s

My GTX1080 going to 29-30MH/s in OC while at stock they stick around 24MH/s true not that fast but the GTX1070.
But rather looking on one falling not important altcoin there are many other to consider.

GTX 1080Ti rocks da house... seriously... this card is a beast³

How much OC do you do to reach 34Mh for ETH ? i can't reach more than 32  Shocked

Care to share model/watts/oc ?

Thanks Smiley

(just for curiosity not that ETH is in any way profitable atm for nvidia cards)

It doesn't use this max TDP all the time just at random occasions.
I found it more stable during some diff changes.
