Hello,
I would like to request the administrators of the site to please remove my account. I do not use any cryptocurrencies or this account anymore, so I have no use for it and I don't want to hang around in google search results. I tried contacting an admin via PM, but got no response, presumably I PMed the wrong person. If that's the case, I apologize.

Thank you in advance.

You should just log out and forget about this account!
Account deletion is not possible I believe.

Accounts were deleted in the past, but I doubt they are done anymore.

Just delete your single post and Google will forget about you.  Smiley

You can't delete an account. Your best option if you want to leave here for good, is to change your password to something ridiculously strong so it can't be compromised.

As I said in another thread also in Meta, accounts can't be deleted. You can delete your posts  sans those in certain boards that can't be deleted, disable any security questions, and change your password to something very strong that can't be hacked.

Another option for you is to try reset your password using the secret question function as far as I know this will automatically lock your account forever and no one will be able to hack it in the future (if this is what you are afraid of).

I don't care about hacking, I don't cross-use passwords, I don't want just anyone to Google my handle and find out I'm a member. It's a pretty gross negligence on the part of admins (I doubt accounts CAN'T be deleted, as far as I know the software this board runs on is capable of it) to not respect the privacy of its' users, especially when it comes to the fact that several authorities connect anyone associated with any crypto talk with illegal activities.

Could someone at least change my handle, then? To literally anything other than this? Please?

If you're so worried about whatever entity Googling you and find out that you're part of this forum, then why didn't you sign up here with whatever other handle? As per the rules (aside from the fact whether or not it's possible to delete accounts within the forum's tool set) it's simply impossible to get your account deleted.

Could someone at least change my handle, then? To literally anything other than this? Please?

In your case -- requesting to change your handle can only be done through donating 10 BTC where you'll be upgraded to donator, and from there you can succeed in getting your handle changed.

Do you use the same handle on every site you visit?  That is not a good idea.

This forum is the only place I use "Vod".

Because I don't see into the future and couldn't know that in 5 years law enforcement in various countries will see people who used what was just a cool tech thing as potential terrorists? Sorry I'm not an oracle. This is a pretty serious fail on the site's part, how do you run a service that's been linked to illegal crap in the past and not let people back out?

You wouldn't be the only one feeling left out.We all will come with you.Be happy that you'd atleast have a company. Cheesy

You can back-out by not using the site anymore as suggested. Also forum doesn't hold any concrete proof about you being the real person behind the account.

Linked to "illegal crap"? What "illegal crap" are you referring to?

Anyone can be Aladar42, you could even have your account deleted and someone register an account with exact same nickname and even if this nickname exists in multiple sites it might not be possible to confirm it is used by exactly the same person. You had 0 posts, might as well have stayed with 0 posts, you'd avoid troubling yourself...

Very curious as to what "illegal crap" has Bitcointalk been related to...

I always use the same or similar "handle" on every forums I visited (probably jacktheking or inTech). I don't feel any shame of doing it at all - because I only register if I trust the forums or site. To add on, you can't stop your followers from joining a bad site with your already popular "handle" like what others state.

Now that I know you dislike Bitcoin and the name "Aladar42" to appear on Bitcoin related site, I can join a lot of Bitcoin related sites (be it forums, chatroom, faucets or even blog) and then "blackmail" you to send me Bitcoin before I "remove" the account - just an example, I am not that bad.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!
