Hello everyone, not really sure if this is the appropriate section or not, but due to the "newbie" restrictions, I don't really have much of a choice.

I started out mining today, and I have been trying out a couple different miners (guiminer, cgminer), and they both worked very well. Well, all up until I updated my GPU drivers.

Currently I'm running a Radeon HD 7970 on a Windows 8 64bit rig. If any other information about the system is needed, just let me know and I'll post it Smiley

For simplicity sake, the below will be based around guiminer, though the same issue is also happening with cgminer;

So the issue is as follows; As soon as I try to run the (in this example) guiminer binary, the tray icon will appear, however the main window will not. When I hover over the tray icon, it'll simply disappear, thus I can rule out the entire issue with the window coordinates being wrong. The log file contains no information what so ever, and I have now several times tried reinstalling the display drivers (both older and newer versions of them, just to be sure it's not a compatibility issue) and also the different miners in question. No matter what I do, the issue as stated above has happened every single time.

The only time I can get any response what so ever from either clients is by not having ANY display drivers installed at all (That being GPU is detected, but not even standard VGA drivers installed). At that point, the GUI will open, and I can run the workers, but CPU only, as obviously, the GPU will not show up in the list.

This entire issue is starting to drive me slightly nuts, and I'm at the verge of doing a fresh install. Big bummer having to go through that, but I feel I've exhausted any other alternative.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I'd rather gnaw my arm off than to have to reinstall my computer.
