Why did this coin pump so hard? Does it have anything groundbreaking to offer? Does it solve anything Bitcoin can't do? what are the pros and cons? What's the catch here?

When something like this happens, it's only two options:

1) The coin is offering something new that attracts investors
2) The coin is another baseless pump and dump shitcoin

What do we have here?

If you'd read the first thing about the coin you'd know.

PascalCoin is a new cryptocurrency written from scratch, and is designed to work without an operations history, yet is able to control double spending or check balance. Instead of storing balances on the blockchain, PascalCoin offers a safebox system similar to a bank account.

Pascal Coin is a cryptocurrency for humans, not only for geeks

Since its account system is very similar to a bank account by design, PascalCoin is an easy to understand and easy to work with cryptocurrency. Through easy to remember account numbers instead of cryptographic addresses, everybody can have an overview of how it is designed.

Address example in Bitcoin: 16K3HCZRhFUtM8GdWRcfKeaa6KsuyxZaYk
Account example in PascalCoin: 12345-54

Pascal offered something truly unique outside of the typical coin by removing the operations history, and other coins are already starting to clone it. That alone tells you that this concept will be explored much further. I personally feel the current price is still very low once you take into account that it wasn't a premine or ICO that favored insiders and devs, and we have yet to see this techs full potential. Pascal will most likely be a hot topic for some time as more people become interested in it.

Yeah, sounds like a pump and dump to me. Thanks for the verification my dude.

I asked for some deeper analisys and he just copy pasted me what the PascalCoin thread says.

I would like to know something else. Of course that the dev himself is going to sell his coin as the second coming of satoshi himself, but we need more.

No, you asked some very basic questions.

It's built from scratch, doesn't depend on operations history (that's pretty big) and its addresses are very short, allowing people to remember them easily.

That alone answers all but one of your questions.

Yeah, sounds like a pump and dump to me. Thanks for the verification my dude.

Again, it's built from scratch, doesn't depend on operations history (that's pretty big) and its addresses are very short, allowing people to remember them easily.

There's nothing vague about it. Nor there are any red flags that would make it a p&d.

But where are the tradeoffs? there are always tradeoffs. Is it as safe and secure as bitcoin's pow backed by the strongest network on earth? because i doubt it is.

If it was as safe as bitcoin, faster than bitcoin, no scaling problem... then it would have a higher marketcap than bitcoin, but it doesnt.

It's another pump and dump scheme of course. The hype is almost over, Poloniex volume is decreasing every day more and more. From 6-12 months nobody remember this coin well. Its account system is useless. They promoted the coin with fancy words, written from scratch but offer nothing usable.

I think what a lot of people are missing (including the dev?) is that PascalCoin solves the problem in Bitcoin of uncontrolled uxto-set growth. In Bitcoin this data grows with every unspent output. With PascalCoin the uxto-set is effectively replaced by accounts, which grow at a predictable and stable rate. The down-side of this is that anyone can't just create a new addresss/account, they need to be mined/exchanged.

Exactly. Bitcoins strongest feature, the blockchain, is also its biggest liability due to increasing size. Pascal figured out a way around the scaling issue, and I foresee a new breed of cryptos spawning based off this idea. Pascal will have first mover advantage just as bitcoin did. That's why I feel Pascal is a great investment at these prices. A 3m market cap is nothing nor does it come close to represent the volume it is receiving which is not all dump as others would like you to believe. It has a lot of buy orders being filled and sell orders in both directions.

it wouldn't matter if a coin could extend your life by 1000 years or reduce it by 50 years. it's gonna get pumped and dumped by people who don't know or care. same story as ever.

Unfortunately the entire altcoin market has become a perfect business by pumping and dumping all available coins. These days Pascalcoin has been the chosen one, tomorrow will be another coin, etc. I have no doubt that Pascal could have interesting features to be taken into account, but any of them are really important for speculators at the moment of looking for quick and easy profits, ruining all its reputation and hard work of developers in the process.
