Hi,

Just started mining and on my main rig I am running a Radeon 7850 2GB card overclocked to 1100MHz Core and 5600MHz Memory but only hitting 230Mh/s - the second machine is running a GTX 550 ti at stock and only hitting 40Mh/s.

Anyone know if there is a guide somewhere to improve performance for windows mining?  I am currently using BFGMiner.

Thanks,

Paladine

You should possible look into xubuntu and cgminer if you want to make a good mining rig..

Paladine: I'm using a 7850 (just recently got a second) and on average the best I can seem to hit is about 300MH/z average @ 1,010 MHz core with peaks up to 350MH/s (the nvidia card you have wont get much better sadly) so that may give you some sort of average to look at where you should be.

This is on windows 7 x64 using GUI Miner -v 1 -w 256 -f 1 (I tried w 128 and f 0 as well)

right now I keep having my miner say connection problems, you wouldn't happen to be having that issue as well would you?

Garbaek: I may look in to that myself thanks Smiley

underclock the ram. waaaay down. BTC mining on ATI doesn't use much video ram (or system ram for that matter).  That'll give you some "headroom" to overclock the core a little more, maybe.

NVidia cards suck a big bag of monkey dick for BTC mining. CUDA-miners are slowly helping to improve NVidia GPU mining *slightly* but I don't see them ever being as good as ATI cards.

Go to the hardware mining comparison page (use google), and search for the best init strings, mining programs, and overclock/underclock settings for your specific GPU. CGMiner is best miner.

I have a ATI 6950 running 840 MHz , Mem 1325 MHz little voltage boost from 1100 to 1150 and keeping cool at about 140deg F. My hash rate on GUIMiner and the default slush's pool miner drop down with all the DDoS attacks been running right at 271.4 Mhash/s consistent. I too am working on getting more bang for my buck.

Just now trying to find a decent electric usage app
