You'll probably want to use a BlockChain app so there's no need for full chain download:

Well for a hot wallet I would recommend you to use Blockchain.info Android App.

But if you want to store your bitcoins in a safe place I recommend you to store them in a Paper Wallet. It's very easy to make a paper wallet and it is by far one of the safest methods.

Cheers

Bitcoin is the future !

There's the Bitcoin app by Schildbach, and there's Bitcoin Spinner. Both let you back up your private keys, so you can use them later, but Spinner shows you an unencrypted key.

I don't know how to show the unencrypted private key in the Bitcoin app by Schildbach.

I use the block chain app but bear on mind that their service has been very patchy lately.

Just a heads up: Blockchain is currently offline due to a DDoS attack. More info on their Twitter to keep you updated. It should be back up in a moment.

Nevertheless, Blockchain has a good Android app. I'm sure you'll like it.
