A little good publicity is always nice, although I feel like an article like this won't do to much.

Not much, but enough to start a positive reaction from readers and others not yet involved in cryptocurrency. All positive things/articles counts, whether they have large or minimal effect to pushing bitcoin toward mass adoption.

It looks more like an advertisement for bitfinex on end of the article
Quote
Bitfinex, another site, has created an active marketplace for lending bitcoin to people who want to sell it short. The exchange even publishes an average daily rate for borrowing the currency, which has been going up in the past two weeks.

They have placed ad of bitfinex in pretty innovative way, are they paid by bitfinex for this.  Grin

They realized that bitcoin is growing, last week news from Bank of China hasn't a big impact on its price, and every day bitcoin is having more interest on investors. Possibly their readers could be interested on the bitcoin EFT.

It takes time. Bitcoin came from out of nowhere, created by an obscure, unknown source. It's human nature to be skeptical and even attack that which you don't know or don't understand and is different. If hypothetically, bitcoin had been created by some well-known mainstream business entity or government, the media would have fawned all over it and touted it as the greatest innovation ever from the beginning of its introduction.

As it is, Bitcoin has had to prove itself on its own merits starting from its beginnings without the media's help, which I think is better.

The latest swings followed a similar pattern. As soon as bitcoin breached $1,000, the Chinese authorities got involved and the price plunged. Last week, once again, that level was pierced, and once more the central bank entered the fray. On Monday, the price was little changed at $1,003.

Answer me this: Why are the Chinese authorities entering into the fray when the exchange rate hits $1,000 USD oppose to say 7,000 CNY?

Currently media is mostly control under big brands which currently not going with bitcoins just because of this we have no coverage like we need but its good sign we are going slowly and studly hope this give us some big breakthrough in near future

Well it looks like media trying to paint bitcoin now as a good investment
option specially for those who are willing to take the risk. And this kind
of articles are good for the bitcoin community because it exposed it
for those investors who don't have an idea what bitcoin is.
For me, negative or positive press is still press so thanks to the author  Smiley
Also, its one way that it will be mass adopted sooner than we know.

If you are a greedy bastard who does not care as long as the price of Bitcoin is going up then yes. Who cares what they write about Bitcoin.

When I first discovered Bitcoin I used to think that it was a very good investment and I recommend people around me to also invest because it will change the world of finance forever. Now that I am learning more and more each day, if someone asks me if they should invest in Bitcoin, I always say be careful because they are putting their money in the hands of the miners, the developers and people who want to fork it away like the big blockers.

Mmmm, OK.  I guess any news in the mainstream financial press is good news.  This is certainly tepid at best, but they're right.  I don't know what kind of 'instruments' they're talking about.  Like the Twinklevoss's ETF and such?

There seemed to be a lot of press back in 2013 when bitcoin exploded, then it cooled off a lot.  There isn't much to say about it when it's not doing anything, so no surprise there.

many of the other news sites, i mean those big news sites that are pulishing economical news, have started to post positively about bitcoin for a while. and it is all about how good bitcoin has been performing for the past couple of years after the mtgox fake pump and the bubble.
and all that good news has been helping bitcoin a lot. you may not see it right away but it has been pretty helpful to the overall adoption.

Yes I agree, bitcoin is still a small market and users especially bitcoin users daily,
but with many media talking about bitcoin will make bitcoin become more popular
and many people who use bitcoin at least for investments.

Yeah, I mean they have to report something positive at some point when the price has been rising for so long. I'm sure if the price crashed they will post twice as many articles and extremely quickly. They know that their viewers love hearing negative things about it. Everyone loves to hear that someone else lost money to make themselves feel better about not investing. Glad to see they're giving the space a little positive press though!

Before the mainstream only seem to notice bitcoin when it's on a roll. That's starting to change though. Now they're reporting it as a viable investment whereas before they seem to paint it as some hype, especially when the price finally crash. Anyway, any good publicity goes a long  way for bitcoin. Who knows, if the upper-class start flocking to it, adoption might trickle down to the rest.
