I can't find anywhere to buy BTC in £ sterling. Blockchain seems to have turned off UK deposits. MT GOX has to be sent to Japan so that costs too much extra. Any currency conversion adds 5-6% plus bank fees!!!!!

yeah some of those sellers have 100% markups!!!! average is 10% markup - how do they get away with it!!!

yeah some of those sellers have 100% markups!!!! average is 10% markup - how do they get away with it!!! Because they can. The Gox price is presumably lower than OTC 'cause it's so hard to get fiat onto the exchange, especially from the UK. Similarly, goldbrokers have rapidly sold out of shiny stuff after lowering their prices in tandem with the reported paper spot price (Galmarley, etc.). I find that quite telling: paper "gold" isn't physical gold in the hand.

Yes, it usually is, probably because it's even harder to move fiat into and out of BTC-e than Mt Gox.
