Anyway, sometimes it's good to take a deep breath and enjoy the view, in this case the narrator:

"as low as fifty dollars a coin"

How perceptions change.  $50 is now seen as an outrageous low.  The $31.9 high was seen as insurmountable as little as 6 months ago.
