This sounds like trolling to me.... guy with 2 day old forum account claims to have a BFL ASIC.  I would think that anyone actually receiving a BFL ASIC would know what to do, because that means you ordered it a loooong time ago and have had time to learn.

I have browsed before but never needed to ask a question.

I am thinking of ordering a Jalapeno. I am not doing this as a money making scheme as such, I mean that is a bonus. I just think it is pretty cool to be part of the bitcoin network at a relatively early stage.

At least with a Jally even if they never deliver you aren't breaking the bank as much as those of us who hastily ordered a single.

Well I joined deepbit and did some CPU mining overnight. So I know that is working ok.

Should be interesting. Here is to hoping BFL ship my order within a couple of months.

Is not the BFL scam? shipped to nobody yet as far as I know

I have been reading and following them for a while. If they are a scam, then they have gone a very weird route. They have offices, employees, videos touring their small US facility. Update pretty consistently and a LOT of people trust them with their money although more people seem to be losing faith due to endless delays.

As has been said, the smaller models don't exactly ruin me financially so it is more of an interest in a hobby than a serious investment. If I was seriously investing in mining, I would probably pre order those KNC's but I don't have the $ for those.

Have to be attached to a computer the whole time

Depends on the unit...

Most small units have to be connected to a computer, due to the lack of "wifi" or "network-cable" (which would only have to talk to a router.)

Some of the larger ones, and new ones, have WiFi and/or network-ports, for "hive" style setups.

The BFI ones that are NOT the TH/s models, all require USB connection to a network-connected computer. A mini-itx would suffice. No need to hook it up to a power-hungry gaming rig, when a 20w mini-itx will suffice. It is just using the USB-Serial port as a gateway to the internet.
