Is this a good motherboard for 4 video card litecoin mining? Will an AMD CPU be powerful enough for this task? I know it works for bitcoing, but what about litecoin?

It will work fine. Focus is on the cards. You can use old motherboards and cpu also

I have the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5, Socket-AM3+ in a box here and its runs like there is no tomorrow Smiley

Just make sure you have enough power, the 7970 can up to ~300W each Smiley
