Hello all, I recently purchased 8x 1070tis and the ASUS Z370-E Gaming motherboard. I looked through the manual and might have wrongly came to the conclusion that I could run at least 8 GPUs on the board.

Currently I can get 5 GPUs recognized, I found in the manual that if I disable the front 3.1 USB that I could get PCIE_X1_2 and PCIE_X1_4 to work. That doesn't seem to be the case though as I have disabled the 3.1 front USBs in bios (and actually selected PCIE_X1_2&PCIE_X1_4).

I have swapped working cards into those slots to no avail. Any insight would be greatly appreciated considering there isn't much information out about this board yet.

Here is a english link to the manual.

I've been able to get 6 GPUs now recognized. Here is a run down of what I've done.

*Going from memory, because I don't want to shut the machine down and actually look*

* Disabled front 3.1 USBs, and selected PCIE_X1&PCIE_X4 -- It is a drop down selection.

* Went to USBs and disabled all but the two we are using for mouse and keyboard (USB13/14) !! After I did this, I got the 6th card recognized

* Switched TWO PCIE settings to GEN2, forgot exact location, but it is under PCH Configuration, left speed to auto.

* Disabled all SATA not in use, except our hd (We had a 32GB Thumbstick, but it was painfully slow installing drivers on because of heat throttling, switched to a hard drive)

* Disabled, bluetooth, wifi.

Thinking that was all I have done so far. Researching about disabling the on board graphics and running my monitor off the card in the pcie_x16/x8_1 slot. Will update once I find out more.

Last update, I was able to get 8 GPUs running using both m.2 ports with adapters. I'm not even using PCIE_X1_2 anymore. It will just be a free slot on the board, I could never get it to recognize a card. You must disable the 3.1 front usb in the bios and select the PCIE ports. Also set the m.2 to use PCIE.

Good luck!

I have done all of the above and cannot get PCIE_X1_2 to be recognized either. Deadsix can you confirm yours is up and working?

I have a couple 270-e strix boards that work just fine. These boards are giving be trouble just like krakenmining, although I am able to get 7 running an M.2 adapter and avoiding PCIE_X1_2. I will be trying to get 8 running using the second M.2 slot shortly.

* Enabled 4g encoding/decoding

* Disabled front 3.1 USB and selected PCIE_X1 & PCIE_X4

* Disabled all usb ports individually except 13 and 14 for keyboard and mouse

* Disabled Sound, Bluetooth, Serial ports, and all SATA ports other than Sata_3 that my SSD is on.

* Set PCIE lane settings to Gen 1

Edit: Got 8 GPUS working avoiding PCIE_X1_2 and using 2 M.2 adapters.
