Hi,

I've got two identical laptops,  nothing done to either of them. Just out of the box HP's.
I've got them both mining the same pool, same mining program, everything identical except that one of them is doubling the hash rate of the other. I've checked all the processes, etc. to see if anything is using the CPU and they both run at about 97-98% to the minerd program.
Any ideas why two identical setups would have two drastically different hash rates?
And yes, I know I'm not going to make anything mining with my laptop CPU was just more interested in the "how does it work?" aspect of it.
Best part is the fast laptop is my kids who I'm always warning not to install all the crap he does or it will slow his computer down.

You're mining Litecoins?  Is there a difference in available RAM on the two machines?  My (limited) understanding of Litecoin mining is that it is more heavily RAM dependent, and since the hardware sounds like it is exactly the same, RAM available to your miner is the next thing that came to mind.

I think the operative question is: Why on gods green earth are you mining with laptops?
Followed by: Laptops?
