I sent an S9 hash board in for repair with Bitmain Warranty in Colorado. Yesterday I got an email that it had been repaired and a bill for $175 + $25 for shipping. It was a very quick repair. So I paid right away with PayPal.

This morning I got an email from PayPal saying Bitmain Warranty had sent a $50 refund. The note from merchant states:
"Lucky Drawing (Repair Ticket) $50 Refund"

I have never heard of this, but I'm certainly not complaining at all! That's fantastic, with total repair costs at $150!! Smiley

Has anyone else had a "Lucky Drawing" repair ticket?

Thank you, Bitmain Warranty! Can't wait to get my hash board back and get my hash rate back up!  Grin Grin Grin

I stand corrected...but you can do nothing to change it  Sad

You can never get enough chips to make enough miners to get to the little people to make any difference......sorry  Cry

Maybe, but that won't stop me from trying. Change in favor of the little people is why I started working in the bitcoin economy over three years ago. Some people are worth not being completely ignored by everyone in the world.

yeah  I use the sticks for fun I hit a PPC block with

them.

I look forward to some more efficient models.

At the moment  BTC  is in trouble.  but there is a lot of $$ invested in it.  I am sure it will do better.

I mine my eth directly into btc  as I prefer btc. I use nicehash

But asic mining of btc is in trouble.

look at this rig the pandaminer.  it is far better then the s-9

I point it at nicehash  i get about 0.02368 btc per day using about 1050 watts

I need 44 th of sha256
or 3 ½ s-9s to earn 0.02368 btc per day

and that is 4500 watts

this math is what it is and is causing price adjustment in coins.

So at the moment my btc is cheap  via  eth mining

It's only that way because someone's willing to pay a heck of a lot more than cost for ETH. Every time that's happened with BTC it crashed shortly after - remember Nov 2013 to Feb 2014? Your rig is far better at mining something not Bitcoins than the S9 is, but it sucks at mining bitcoins. It's only able to revenue more bitcoins than an S9 because of an unlikely and probably unsustainable favorable exchange rate between the two coins. The BTCs you get in exchange for ETH, someone first had to mine those the hard way.

If Ethereum sticks around, proves viable and is accepted as a currency instead of traded or stockpiled as an asset, it may get my support. But until then I'll keep backing the direct mining of the coin I actually want - a coin I can actually spend on something that isn't just another coin.

not that i disagree  but you are leaving out the fact that btc/asic  is  anti  gpu/pc components.

My feeling here is that bitmain avalon and biftfury  may have awakened a  multi headed beast

look at the companies in  thread  below :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1833839.0

I still think all of this can work for all of us  and we are seeing the fact  that the companies in the thread above see what I see a cheaper way to acquire btc then using asics  and a way to sell their gear to us.

The year of 2017  has a lot of action headed our way.

I look to have some of all miners  to spread risk.

I just hope there won't be ASICs for any of these coins anytime soon as there are already FPGAs being developed and used in X11 miners (supposedly Baikal and Pinidea), hope this won't happen to ETH. I know it's designed to be more asic-proof than any other coin so far but this could change, however unlikely it is.

AMD or Nvidia will make a new coin.

Prop up its price to sell pc gear gpus etc.

Zec was the first coin made in mind to have a small market cap for pc and pc parts companies to be able to boost the price without going tap.

I would love to see how this shakes out.

I have a leg in the gpu camp and the other leg in the ASIC btc camp

Well,I can't post in that thread,it's locked sooo:

I like GPU mining because I can BUY GPU's almost anywhere & get em at competitive prices ANYTIME I WANT ONE!!!

I like GPU mining because I can mine a coin that more than likely won't be taken over by a device I can't afford or can only get from one maker.(a corp entity can still buy a shitload of GPU's though, but it'll cost em)

I like GPU mining because it is mining ANYONE can get into it.

I like GPU mining because I can resell my GPU's for almost what paid for them 6 months later.

I like GPU mining because I get up to a 3 year warranty.

Seriously,Bitcoin was the first,I had faith in it when WE THE PEOPLE had control over it,so to speak,we had the majority hashrate....those days are over  Cry

Really hoping ANY altcoin will catch up with Bitcoin..................

Do any coins look like they might be useful for other than exchanges? It would be nice to have something with even the utility acceptance Bitcoin had 3 years ago and that wasn't pretty much completely corporate. It'll be difficult because humans are driven by greed, and as long as the people with money keep getting handed means to make more money they will.

It is a good point that do the alt coins serve a purpose.

But maybe not for this thread.

But I do see a need for both alt and btc.

We are on a odd year and changes are happening in the world of crypto

Well,Bitcoin wasn't accepted anywhere for around 2 years sooooo....................& it has the lead for now too sooooo..............

Gotta start somewhere  Grin

Ain't gonna happen overnight,it'll take many years for any altcoin to get near what BTC is now,or what is was 2 years ago,but if you don't try................
