Hey yall! I bought a bitcoin back in 2013 during the whole craze and at a high price, so when it crashed I lost interest for a bit. Now I'm older and more mature and see the value of the coin long term so I wanted to retrieve the coin.

Unfortunately I had it with cavirtex which then went out of business. They said everyone had to withdraw their funds or lose them.

So I was paranoid about security so I downloaded armory thinking it was one of the best. I realized I need to sync the block chain so started that. But it just took forever. Also I installed it on ubuntu! Eventually it was taking too long so I had created a wallet in armory before it fully synced since cavirtex had a deadline. At some point I forgot about it, and lost interest after the syncing process was taking weeks.

Anyways, I wanted to retrieve my coin now, and so I downloaded armory and the block chain on a new computer, synced it to like 100% after many many days...recovered the wallet I thought had the bitcoin...only to find that wallet said 0 Sad
Have I lost the bitcoin? I still have the old laptop I installed bitcoin and armory in it, but it's not loading Core anymore some error is coming up.
Not sure what I can do now

In the offline computer I went to wallet properties and checked that address in the block chain and I see no transactions

It appears cavirtex never sent you the coins.

Sad damn I feel like such a fool. I don't know what I was thinking I should have verified everything - I guess losing that money is a lesson learned.
Doubt kraken is going to have record but I'll check with support since they bought out cavirtex

It seems thats about par to course with this armory wallet.  You can send BTC to it then never see it again without lots and lots of messing around uninstalling and reinstalling armory and then spending a week or more downloading a new database or trying to fix a corrupted wallet and if you get lucky you might end up seeing your btc ballance long enough to then send them to a safe easy to use wallet. That wont lose your bitcoins on you every time you turn around like armory does.    Its a real POS
