Looking at P2Pool.org, it seems like I can use it just like any other pool and wallet address as username. However, I seem to remember people need to run some kind of software, daemon or whatever and go through a number of steps to use p2pool.

Is it because things have changed?

Thanks.  Smiley

I think you're referring to people running P2Pool nodes. If you want to mine using P2Pool, just use the site's instructions available at P2Pool.org.

My name was simply a play on "Blue Engineer" from Team Fortress. I am not affiliated with Microsoft or the Azure project.

p2pool.org is a pool based on p2pool. It is not p2pool itself.

To mine in p2pool yes, you have to download p2pool and run it. Wich is a good idea since there is a 2% fee on p2pool.org. But it need a bit of work, you will have to run both the bitcoin-qt client and p2pool client.
