I'm having a specific issue with one of my rigs but I wanted to hear and understand how in general everyone troubleshoots and what tips can be shared.

Issue: computer freezes, screen shows last point before the freeze

Details: I was also having issues with Claymore 8.1 but when i Switched to Claymore 9.0 I started having this issue more frequently. Run time varies but since Claymore 9.0 it has only been 30 mins

Os: Win 10 pro
MB: Z170a Carbon Pro
RAM: 8gb
GPU: 7 X msi rx 470 gaming x
Drivers: 16.9.2
Mods: all cards have custom 1625 strap, all core clocks at 1180, - 62.5mV, memory clock at 2025 at 950 mV. Max core set in bios and memory is set to 1975 in bios but I up it with watttool
Miner: Claymore 9.0 dual with drc

I'd appreciate any help on my specific issue but I'm also very interested on the communities methods of troubleshooting and debugging issues with their machines.
