What is a Penny Auction?

A penny auction is an auction where bidders pay-per-bid for an item and the time increases with each bid. The winning bidder is the bidder whoever is the last to bid when the timer counts down to 0 seconds. Not all auction websites are the same so make sure you read the rules carefully. Some auctions require you to also pay for the final amount showing for the item. For example if each bid raises the auction cost by $0.01 an auction that ends at $5.98 would mean there were 598 bids placed on that item. If the winning bidder were to place 74 bids on the item they would pay for each bid placed in addition to the final cost plus shipping.

How Do Penny Auctions Make Money?

A penny auction is run by a single user/company. Most penny auctions never hold stock (exception is gift cards), but most drop ship from Amazon and use Amazon Prime (Free Shipping).

A typical penny auction has 10 auctions running an hour.

Example auction:

https://www.happybidday.com/img/how-it-works2/auction-box2.jpg

Lets say an item that costs $1200 USD such as a Macbook is listed. Bids on the site cost $1.00 each.
Items like this typically sell for $40.00 - $50.00.

Each bid is 0.01 x $1.00 (a profit of $2,800 per auction).

Every auction generally makes a profit which varies.

The average penny auction turns over 240 items a day + buy nows.

Even at 240 auctions a day with Amazon Prime making an average $10 shipping per item and breaking even:

240 X $10 = $2,400 a day

$72,000 /Mo or $864,000 /Yr

Script Requirements:

Dedicated Server (Preferably with load balancing because these sites do get a ton of traffic)
4GB RAM (Min) (128GB Recommended)
CDN is recommended
