Dear Friends

I own an RX480! But my RX480 have 4GB

But only using 2gb  ! Does Claymore use only 2GB of memory?

Is there any way to use the 4gb and improve the hashrate?

Thanks
Almir

consider selling your 4gb card and buying 2gb to mine etherium with Claymore miner )))))

well looks like your custom bios is a fail for claymore.

does it work on other miners?

The reason its using only 2 GB is because thats all it needs to mine ethereum

It comes down to DAG file.

please look it up to understand DAG file size.

Come 2018-early 2019 4GB gpu card won't work because DAG file will be larger.

Are you sure, that ethereum will not switch to pos till 2019?

No Ethereum may switch to POS from POW before that the DAG file size increases over years thats what requires you to go from 2gb card to 4gb and so on.

https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/426/what-is-the-current-dag-size-when-do-we-expect-to-hit-gpu-limits

there was time when i mined ethereum on 1gb card and than 1.5gb and 2.0gb right now 4 gb cards are sufficient but by late 2018 to 2019 it will move past 3.3gb-3.5gb size when 4gb gpu cards won't be able to mine ethereum.

https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/Ethash-Design-Rationale

they increase by 0.73x per year in file size to keep up with moores law other wise if the DAG files are same and costs of RAM goes down sufficient enough we can have ASICS for Ethereum.

However POS is expected to happen way before 2018 but again anything could happen.

Your card using 2.2gb is okay and the hashing speed your are getting is very normal, so you are okay.
