Hey guys,
I'm new to Bitcoin and I recently had my miners working correctly.  I have two AMD 5870's and they were both chugging along.  I read some things about adjusting clock settings and my cards starting acting funny and freezing up.  Needless to say, i uninstalled all AMD products including CCC, then I downloaded and installed new drivers, v 13.4.

New drivers:
                         Display Driver ver. 12.104
                         OpenCL(tm) Driver ver. 10.0.1124.2
                         Catalyst Control Center ver. 2013.0328.2217.38225

Can someone please tell me what I'm missing here.  With my new drivers I continue to see flashes of "verification failed" and "0 shares accepted".  Also on my "slush's pool" account page, there are no Mh/s being shown.  I feel like I'm not authenticating properly, but could it be an OpenCL or SDK issue?  Please help!

Have you chosen Slush's pool with guiminer, or did you put the details in your self?

Well i think it defaulted to slush's pool, but I was mining on it before the driver troubles and reinstall of the newer drivers.  Just downloaded the SDK and installed as well and that didn't solve it.  This was working, kinda weird.  I keep seeing flashes of "verification failed" at the bottom of the guiminer.  ***And yes i have entered the settings myself using the user and pw given by the slush's pool site and account page.  Again i appreciate the prompt responses.

Ah ok. It's just i was having connection issues and resolved them by connecting to stratum3.bitcoin.cz - port: 3333 manually.

If i think of anything else it may be i'll post it here.

How do you enter that manually?

Where it say 'server: slush's pool' - change it to other, then enter your details.

EDIT: I can go into more detail if need be.

No need, u gave good instructions.  I punched those settings in "other" and tried again while setting my GPU's to default settings/speeds.  I found the console and the read out was "check you hardware" and "verification failed".  I think the newer AMD drivers are "fail" with this version of guiminer.  Would you agree?  Since they are at default settings the only other thing that has changed is the drivers.  I've even installed the SDK again.  Thoughts?

This solved the same problem a guy had with the 6870:

This is your GPU returning invalid hashes from it's kernel. This is because new drivers are crap for older cards.

- Uninstall AMD APP SDK

- Uninstall AMD Catalyst Install manager: choose "uninstall all software", make sure you have only a VGA driver after restart.

- Manually remove these files not removed by the installer; any other obvious ATI files with the same file date:
  C:\Windows\System32\amdocl64.dll
  C:\Windows\System32\amdoclcl64.dll
  C:\Windows\System32\OpenCL.dll
  C:\Windows\SysWOW64\amdocl.dll
  C:\Windows\SysWOW64\amdoclcl.dll
  C:\Windows\SysWOW64\OpenCL.dll

- Install just the Catalyst 11.11 driver package (no SDK is needed; the AMD APP runtime is included with driver)

- Mine just a bit slower on your 6870 than a 5830 would.

Better:
- use cgminer
- set phatk worksize to 256 and underclock GPU RAM to 300MHz for best power efficiency and higher hashrate

I can't help much except to say that I installed the new 13.4 Catalyst driver yesterday on a 7970 and have been mining with it using Guiminer on Slush's pool with no unusual behaviors.

I'm using the standard "slush's pool" connection, not a custom port with "other". I did that recently also with no problems, but I can't remember if it was before or after the driver update.

I'd guess it's not your new driver, but who knows.

Cheers to both of you guys for your input!  I think I will have to try the drivers because I'm not sure what else(other settings) to look for honestly.  I'll let you guys know how it goes if i can find those older Catalyst drivers/software.  I think I deleted the old installer from the downloads folder. Sad
