Hi BitCoiners,

As Newbie, I got this error on downloading the latest CGMiner from this page: https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=28402.0 [edit] I remove an I in CGIMiner...  mistype, thanks TheSpiral

http://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/warning.png?w=435&h=58

Not sure if I should run the software?
I use Google Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m
Win7 x64

Thoughts?

If you're downloading something called CGIMiner, it probably is a virus of some sort. CGMiner, though, is fine. When in doubt, could always compile it yourself from https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer

Miners have been included in to trojans so people could make money by letting other computers mine for them. This does not mean that the miners itself are viruses. So if you are downloading it from that official source, it's a false warning.

That warning is common, but you should be sure that you got the miner from an safe location just to be safe.

Thanks for the tips.  I am pretty sure it is a safe bet, as I got it from the source mentioned in the Forum here, so I am pretty sure it is good.
