I'm new to staking and I have no idea what I am doing. I've got my wallet open for 3 hours and nothing is happening. HOw can I set up my laptop for staking exactly? Do I have to make some changes in my laptops setting?

Does it has a coin you need coins in your wallet before you can start to stake your wallet and earn interest or mint new coin, you also need to mature your coins first before you can start minting new coins and an hour will give you nothing ,hover your mouse to the ax icon to see how many hours more to gain interest.

Fow which coin?  Often you have to keep your coins in 1 wallet for a day before they start to stake.
As far as I am aware, the computer is irrelevent when it comes to staking, so that isn't you worry.

I only have experience with a few PoS coins, but they always worked on my crappy laptop after I had enough coins held in the wallet for long enough.

It's Pink coin. This is the first coin that I am trying to stake so I have no idea. So I have to just leave the coin the wallet for a long time before it starts staking? I have 5000 of it from the bounty and I'm still buying more in poloniex if it requires more coin to start the staking.

Of course you can stake with your laptop, but it takes quite some time to get anything. The reward depends of the amount you are staking and for how much time you did it.
