You would think with that kind of lead-in that Ms. Pender would refute one or more of the claims - that she would demonstrate that BTC is not free, or it is not electronic, or it is not an anonymous way to send money blah blah, and so forth.... but she does none of those things. The whole point of the article appears to be "To read more about bitcoin and the Bay Area people using it, see my Sunday column here or follow me on Twitter @kathpender."

Fluff piece, imho.
