Not to burst anyone's bubble, but as a buyer I would strongly prefer PayPal and would gladly pay a premium at this point for most of the stuff I purchase on-line. Of course if a supplier is willing to send me to goods then allow me to pay when I am satisfied I would prefer to use BTC.
Actually, even that is something of a lie because it is easier to dump fiat via PayPal/Visa than to go through the hassle, risk, expense, and time needed to acquire BTC.
I believe we are deeply in the
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gresham's_law phase with Bitcoin at the moment. That is probably a more promising observation (if true) than that it is 'surpassing PayPal' in part because Bitcoin is clearly not ready for prime-time in trinket-buyerland...as evidenced by the near constant stream of thefts among other things.
It is very much a question mark in my mind about whether Bitcoin could ever be very adequate in the 'replace PayPal/Visa' role. I highly doubt that it could in 'native' form unless it evolves into something quite different from it's initial implementation.
