I have the same problem.

I resolved this with less caché memory, in Bitcoin core configuration tab.

With 150mb of caché, the software is running ok.

2) The client you are running has nothing to do with the client that is mentioned in that thread. Otherwise you're running extremely old software (2011) and need to update.
