Hi everyone,
I recently jumped on the cryptocurrency hype train. Unfortunately, I am not willing to spend a million bucks on building a mining farm in china, so I thought about what I could do to participate
I have quite some experience as a sysadmin and I like meddling with servers, so I thought I might try and set up a small mining pool. I know that I am not gonna become rich and also that no one is going to trust me with their asics hashpower etc., but it's really more for fun, I would even run it without a fee (or maybe if I run it longer at some point I will need a fee to finance the server). Now I just have two questions:
1. Why does everyone use MPOS for the Pools? I've stumbled upon uNOMP and found it quite interesting, as it works on node.js and is quite scalable, but every one seems to use MPOS for their pools. Is there a specific reason to that? Ease of use? Or is there more to it?
2. Can you suggest a currency where people are maybe a little more relaxed and have less of a gold digger mentality? I would love it if i could get a few people to use my pool, but I don't want to run a business, so I don't want to attract people that will go bananas when I should decide to take the pool offline or should it crash or something. Is there any currency that is more mined by hobbyists? Dogecoin maybe?
Thank you for your future answers and happy mining to everyone
