VERY low KH/s on cgminer

I can run cgminer to mine BTC and I get about 500 MH/s per card.



If I try to run cgminer to mine LTC (with --scrypt) I only get about 15 KH/s.



Somebody PLEASE help me.  I have read all of the read me's and threads.  I have messed around with different drivers (12-10 I know caused this so I switched to 13-1 and still same thing).

I also ran setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100



Nothing helps.

And I am not running any custom arguments.

What cards are you trying to mine on? What settings are you applying to cgminer? Have you tried using reaper?

You will need some special stuff, which really depends on your card.

Given a 7950, this is what I would try:
cgminer.exe -o http://mine.pool-x.eu:8080 -u xxxx -p xx --scrypt --thread-concurrency 21712 -I 18

You can go extremely deep with different configuration flags, etc. but that should get you running. Let me know what card you have and I can suggest some custom command line arguments.

I have Saphire 7950's.  Only 2 right now but after I get this nailed down I have 3 more.


I got it to work better but still big problem.

When I start cgminer it says part of the config file failed to load.

Then it starts mining.  I am only getting about 250 KH/s though.

If I change the intensity while it is still mining it will let me get up to about 16 (which gets me about 550 KH/s) then it just BAM and dies.  Not BSOD the whole computer just turns off like you pulled the plug.




I am going to delete the config file and return the card to stock settings ( no OC) and see if that helps.


Any suggestions?

So I just deleted the config file and I returned the cards to factory settings, no OC, then I started cgminer with this.

cgminer.exe -o http://mine.pool-x.eu:8080 -u XXXXXXXXX -p XXXXXX --scrypt -I 18 --thread-concurrency 21712 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2


It is now running at just under 500KH/s per card.


So it must have been my OC I am guessing?  Maybe I took it too far.

You're going from an I:12 to an I:18 and wondering why your hashrate went up so much?

I understand that and am not wondering why the hash rate went up.  I was wondering why it was 15 KH/s when it was on -I 12.


And I was wondering why the computer would just cut off like that.  No BSOD just like it got unplugged.  Does this mean a power issue?  not enough power when overclocking it or not enough power like the PSU is bad or inadequate?


I have since got it at -I 18 and I have the card back up to GPU 1075  Mem  1635.  Getting avg 1050 KH/s.  Only been on for couple hours though.  Temps at 73C fan at 60%.

What OS are you using? Are you sure you don't have your PC set to 'save power' and switch off after xyz minutes?

That's the default setting for a windows 7 clean install.

same here, but with a gtx 670, i only get 10khash, maybe i need sdk tool?

I fixed that by turning the intensity up.


I still have not got the cards to go above 500 KH/s.


And just randomly it will just power off.   Like it was unplugged.

And I mean power off while I am using it.  It's not one specific thing either it's just random.


I have two computers running Windows 7 that are doing it.


I think I may have the V settings on my cards wrong.
