People keep conveniently forgetting this.

Why does Bitmain want a hard fork?

Because that allows continued benefit of asic boost.

Why does Bitmain oppose Segwit softfork?

Because it ends asic boost benefits.

Until this is taken care of, Chinese miners incentives will not be aligned with the best interests of bitcoin or its users.

Solution: activate Segwit via soft fork next step. Either UASF or MASF. I would still probably support an agreement similar to Barrys ORIGINAL proposal of activating segwit via softfork with an agreement to fork to 2mb in 12 months. We can not allow a hardfork upgrade to segwit as that continues to skew Bitmains incentives to something counterproductive for bitcoin and the rest of the users. The only other options are probably forking off.

Segwit as a hard fork makes no sense. Even Litecoin has successfully activated SW and it's going well. We should not negotiate with a flock of communists trying to move in

Segwit as a hard fork makes no sense.

Exactly why the  only reason behind the idea is to protect asic boost. Ask why they oppose segwit softfork but will agree to segwit hardfork? One allows asicboost...one fixes it...

I agree that having a segwit hardfork makes no sense, but your comment on the flock of communists is getting lost on me. I don't think that anything that we've been seeing in the community recently is commies flowing in, but there are some questionable requests that are being presented here and there. Would you mind explaining?
