I've been attempting to start Armory on 4 different machines to attempt to get to my BTC. I had it running just fine months ago on my netbook.  I didn't turn the netbook on for a few months now it continually crashes.  I updated Bitcoin Core and updated to .95 Armory.  I have updated the blockchain to the current point and I've gone through everything short of a full factory reset (Mostly because I fear going through the download of the blockchain again on that machine.  Just a few months behind took in excess of a week).  It gets past the Parsing and about 3/4 through the next part before the machine encounters a fatal error and reboots itself.  After that it just continues to get around a certain point and then Armored encounters a fatal error and windows needs to close it.  I DID have Armory up enough that I could see my balance and attempt to make transactions but every transaction I attempted failed (No connection to Core???)  I figured the 1.0 GHz processor might be part of the issue with the netbook but I've gotten further with it than anything else so far.

As for the second machine, I'm running it on an i5 processor 1.3 Tb HDD and 16 GB ram.  First problem I had was Bitcoin Core crashing every time I started it causing Core to require the blockchain to be rebuilt every time it started.  I got past that now I open Armory and it is parsing but it seems to have maxed out RAM use.  It's using 15.93 GB of ram and the machine has come to a grind.  I'm a little over 3/4 of the way through the parsing phase. (around #800 at the time of this posting) and it seems to get slower the higher it gets.  I figured 16 GB should be MORE than enough especially with a matching page file.  CPU usage is less than 5% on all 4 cores mostly hanging around 1% which is why I find the high RAM usage a bit off.

Now this all only got to this point AFTER I did an entire clean install of both Core and Armory on that machine (deleted the Roaming\Bitcoin and Roaming\Armory folders after uninstalling the software).  Is there something I'm doing wrong?  Is there something I can do to get this working?  I've been trying various things from on the forum and various things from reinstalls and restarts etc.

As for the 3rd machine, It's a MacBook Pro running an i7 processor.  I attempt to open Armory the icon appears for a few seconds then disappears.  Not sure if it's because I don't have the blockchain fully downloaded yet or what.

I'm still new to the BTC thing and I'm a bit more of an advanced user for PCs.  What can I do to get one of them to work?  This is becoming more of a hassle than I thought it would be.

Small update:

The desktop finally came online with Armory without my wallet.  As SOON as I recovered my wallet from the paper backup, ArmoryDB crashes after giving me a "raw data does not match expected block hash"

0.95 isn't the latest version. 0.96.1 should be more stable. Give it a try.

I've tried .96 on at least one machine with the same issue.  I've now gotten my netbook to see my balance but I'm still unable to send transactions.  I attempted to and it failed.  First time it told me I didn't have a connection to Core now it's telling me repeatedly that the tx has timed out and gives me a link to view the blockchain.


I'm actually using .96 on the netbook that isn't allowing me to make transactions currently.  Also when I try to shut down Armory to restart it, I get an error that ArmoryDB has crashed.

So, looking at armory, it is behind even though it says it is online? it is attempting to process the transaction in block 480768 and it looks like the blockchain is up to 480825 currently?

1) Delete the following files and folders:

Code:
C:\Users\Mr. Grinch\AppData\Roaming\Armory\dbLog.txt
C:\Users\Mr. Grinch\AppData\Roaming\Armory\armorylog.txt
C:\Users\Mr. Grinch\AppData\Roaming\Armory\databases

2) Start your node, make sure it is synchronized with the network

3) From the command line, start ArmoryDB.exe

4) About a minute later, start ArmoryQt.exe the usual way.

If it fails, report here, post both fresh logs. Use pastebin for the logs.

So I'm not sure what happened, but Armory actually started working.  It's updating regularly and I managed to get the transaction through the other night.  It still gave me the Tx timeout error but the Tx did go through.  This is on my Netbook though.  My desktop (which is MUCH higher powered) is still jacked.  I can't even get Core to sync.  Somehow something with Core just ate almost 500gb of HDD space.  I'm still trying to figure it out but it's looking like it's time to clear my files and wipe the drive for a fresh start.

Side note, it still seems like Armory is always a few blocks behind the blockchain.  I'm not sure if this is the reason for the Tx timeout error or if they are separate issues.
