Hi all,

I am having issue a BTC transaction that I hope someone can help with;
  • On Friday May 26, 2017 at around 12 noon, I logged into blockchain.info and created a new BTC address.
  • Someone sent me 0.0879BTC to the address I created above
  • About 20 min later I logged back into blockchain.info and noticed that the address was no longer listed, but the person had already initiated the transaction on their end
  • I logged into blockchain.info from a different laptop just to see if the issue would be resolved, but still no address
  • I imported the address back into blockchain.info, hoping that blockchain.info would just refresh, but the address is now listed as "Watch Only"
  • The funds are there and confirmed, but when I try to transfer it, I keep getting asked for the "private key", but do not know how to get that information
javascript:void(0);

Notes:
All computers used are windows 7 and do not have any known issues. I am unaware of how to contact blockchain.info directly by email/phone/chat.

Any help is truly appreciated. I have already lost $30 US since yesterday due to market fluctuations Smiley

Thanks again.

There doesn't seem to be a critical issue as you're putting it.Don't fret. You might have added that it as a watch only wallet that's why they ask the private key so you can send (it's a rough guess)
Read through the blog post here, that would help fixing your problem

They've detailed it as much as possible.

Thanks again for the help. I read the blog. Blockchain.info did not give me the option to import as watch only. It did state that I needed a private key, but that's my issues. I do not know how/where to find the private key. Do you know an email address to Blockchain.info? I've heard that support@blockchain.info is not a good email address.

Are the funds sent to you showing in your blockchain.info balance?  Blockchain.info automatically generates a new receiving address each time you receive a payment.

You can get your private key using the instructions here.

Thanks Hi-Tech99,

I will check out the links and report back. Yes, the balance shows in my Blockchain.info account.

Thanks for all the help. I've read all the links and while they are logical, my blockchain.info account does that show some of the options that would help to solve my issue. Anyone know the email address for blockchain.info support?

Just to revise: even though I created the address in blockchain.info, it's not showing up as neither my current active address nor archived address. That's why I imported it back into blockchain.info, but now it's asking for a private key that I do not have access to or cannot find. I'm pretty good with following instructions, but somehow something isn't adding up in this case.

Thanks again.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

You mentioned that the address you created from blockchain.info disappeared, its because blockchain.info is a HD wallet, everytime you created an address and receive a btc on it, it will generate another address when you try to receive again, but you can use those previous address to receive any btc and thats why your balance(the one you receive which is 0.0879 btc) is still there

And those "watch only wallet" you mentioned, it happens because you only use to import the "btc wallet address"  only not the private key, thats why you can't use it to send.

And for now you can use your default wallet to send(the one you created earlier), not the imported one.

Hope it enlightens you.

Go to support.blockchain.com. You will have to register and then create a support request (https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/requests/new). Good luck getting this sorted out.

Response from Blockchain.info/.com: "If the address isn't showing in your wallet, then it wasn't created there".

I do not use any other wallets and I am sure I logged into that specific wallet. The weird thing is that the sender can vouch for me that he knows me and that I provided the address. However, for now I can't see any other resolution.

I'll keep the group abreast. Any other ideas?

Issue resolved, thanks to Justin over at [Suspicious link removed]. Not sure how my address disappeared. See steps below for resolution:

I logged into Blochchain.info
Went to settings
Selected addresses
Scrolled down to the bottom and hit the + Add
In the description I typed the same address description (luckily I remembered)
Voila - it appeared when I hit enter
