Hello this is my first post. Im new in forum. So i have a couple of questions if anyone is kind enough to help me Smiley

1) I have kraken wallet. I have bought some coins there (eth, monero, ripple etc) but i was told not to put the coins there. So where do i put the coins? Every coin has a different wallet? thats a hassle. I have blockchain that i used for bitcoins, not sure if that works for other coins as well.

2) Where do i buy this wave coin and xvg? And once bought, where do i store it?

I seem to get confused as I dont know where to put the coins so they are completely safe.

1) some of the altcoins have some online wallets similar to blockchain.info, some of them have multicurrency wallets that you can install on your device like JAXX and some of them have SPV wallets that are small and you can run them much easier than their full wallet.
i have never used the online wallets so i can't help you there.
never used JAXX either but you can check this board and ask around: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=37.0
but SPV wallets are what i have used:
bitcoin + litecoin + Reddcoin: have Electrum (separately)
bitcoin + Dogecoin: have multibit

2) check out coinmarketcap.com and search the name of the altcoin in there. then click on the market tab to find where the coin is being traded.
try to only use the good exchanges such as poloniex, bittrex, kraken, btc-e, and also others that are small but still good: cryptopia, c-cex

Seems https://bittrex.com  is best for those 2 coins.  You will need to deposit BTC on Bittrex and buy those 2 coins.

For you as a beginer diversificating to much is a bit to much troubles. There is no hurry, Crypto is in such begining that peopel joining 5 years from now will still be early adopters.

What i would sugest you is to get a hardwallet. Get coins that you can there and then think to what to do with the rest. even if you leave soem on exchanges is fine, as long you dont have all on just one exchange.

This 2 HW walets are most popular:
https://www.ledgerwallet.com/
https://trezor.io/

Read about them and learn more. knoleage is maybe even more valuable asset you can get right now maybe even valuable of those coins you just bought.

At what value would you consider buying/using a HW instead of keeping them in the exchanges? I'm relatively new and don't have much invested at all, but if investing in HW rather than keeping in exchange is the best route, I believe it would be worth the investment.

I was looking into keeping them in multiple exchanges since you lose %s when you withdraw them from the exchange itself.

Can HW support new ICO coins when distributed?

The first question has to be answered by yourself - personally, I feel any amount more than a few hundred dollars justifies a hardware wallet. You never know, coins you own bought for hundreds could be worth thousands or more in the future, and I don't wanna risk losing coins on an exchange. However, this is different if you want to do some trading. I actively trade about 10% of my portfolio, and keep that on an exchange.

As for your second question: Ledger Nano S does support many major coins especially as they become more well known (e.g Stratis). It costs about $50-60 so it is quite worth it. It will also support most ICOs since most of them launch as Ethereum tokens. You just have to use it with MyEtherWallet and add your token.

Lol, well that was unlucky.

I guess losing at most I've seen, 0.25% isn't as bad as losing a full portfolio. I've only been doing this a few days so I'm still figuring out how to hold all funds with taking the least amount of fees.

I trade quite a bit since I am still getting the hang of things so that's why I questioned a HW until I get enough BTC.

You can check out waveswallet.io, a platform that allows you to deposit your wavecoins or even buy them using Bitcoin directly from waveswallet. Includes a few other currencies like euro, yuan... Smiley

I personally like the design and because it is user friendly too, give it a try! Tongue
