Anyone have any suggestions on how to decide which currency to go with, which pool to work with, and ultimately where the most profitability may be? Aside from that, is mining still worth it? Thanks, fantastic forum, been creeping for a month and decided to go full on very recently!

What kind of speeds are you getting?

I prefer Slush's pool, but if your a slow miner, you may want to check out something like 50BTC which pays you for every share.

What's considered a slow miner

Everyone has different opinions on that, but I would say that Slush's pool would probably be beneficial to anyone getting >100mhash/s.

I know that's still low, but some people like to help the network (every little helps), or are just testing (CPU miners etc).

Anything <100mhash/s would get better and more consistent/stable rewards from a PPS site like 50BTC.

Hmmm, what's the benefit of joining some of these pools? WHy not start your own and get individuals to invest in purchasing GPUs, ASICS, etc.?

For mining profitability on the various coins try coinchoose.com.

As for pool selection that's obviously dependent on the currency you choose, though I'd strongly recommend having at least 2 or 3 pools configured in cgminer, there are a lot of flaky & DDoS-impaired pools at the mo.

Good luck! Smiley

I'm using:
cgminer 3.1
wemineltc.com for Litecoin - No Fees, but can pay donations.
btcguild.com for Bitcoins - you need to do the PPLNS now since PPS is being highly discouraged with a 7.5% fee.
