New to Mining Pools

So,  I new to Bitcoin Pool mining and I've tried to use a few mining pools today: BTC Guild and ABC Pool.  I ran GUI Miner for about and hour on both sites, but neither is howing any status for my work.

Can anyone help a newbie out?

well, most sites use a pplns pay system. You really have to mine a minimum of 24 hours to actually see a payoff. whats more you didnt indicate what your hash power is... if its very low you might not see anything for quite a while also.

My hash power is pretty low, ranging around 950khash/s.

I guess I will just stay connected for 24 hours and check then.
