5770 efficiency

Considering a super-cheap mining rig, i've came across the 5770.

However, the page at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison seems awkward:

Model	Price	Avg. Mhash/s	Mhash/J
5770	$136	212.83	1.45

if the 5770 has a MAX tdp of around 108W, shouldn't that be more like 2.0 MHash/J?

OC'ing 3 of these could get about 700MH/s with around 400W total load: somewhat efficient and cheap


The reason for the 5770s, is mainly for how easy it is to buy and sell them used, making for a less risky investment than a high-end card...

I think that to get 212 Mhs with a 5770 it must be already well overclocked.
One of my rigs has 2 5750@870/300 hashing at 172 mhs each, running fine 24/7 with an old 500W PSU.
I found them at 50 euros each used (one on ebay included delivery).

Silly me, you're right. I've looked closely at the charts again, about 180MH/s seems to be the default for these cards.

Still, that would mean 1.8MH/J at stock, much better than 1.45.

I have a 5750 (which is 5770 but with insignificant lower speed frequencies) and I'm doing right now 54 Mhash/s. I'm in the BTC Guild, using GUIMiner.


I thought I would have at least 150 Mhash/s... what's the problem?

S/t is way out of wack. You should get triple speed at stock clock. Are you watching videos or playing all the time? If not, try with Phoenix or reinstall the drivers.

I have updated my drivers and now it's working @ 135 Mhash/s. Also, I have added at extra flags this line: -v -w128

Its scary how much of a difference this makes. I did this on my 6990 and it shot up to around 720mH/s
