So I just decided to start mining, and after following a few guides managed to setup guiminer on my system. I have it on during the day because I remote access it from uni for all my files, so I figured I could just mindlessly mine in the background and then turn off the miner to play games when I got home.

I am solo minging, and am going to join a pool soon, just wondering though in regards to solo what number of accepted do you need on average to see something in your wallet?

here's where I am at:

unfortunately, with the difficulty level as high as it it for BTC, you are unlikely to min a block on your own with the hashrate you have.

It is much better to join a bitcoin mining pool for shared payouts such as Slush's pool @ http://mining.bitcoin.cz or BTCGuild @ http://www.btcguild.com

if your using your gpu to mine you might want to consider a scrypt based currency and exchange it for BTC instead.
