Imagine a coin /exchange that you could monetize your unused cell data for the month -

Many users have loads of data on their contract that they never use and gets wasted every month.
Or maybe they are on vacation for a month and want recoup some of their cell cost that they wont be using

On the other end of the spectrum - Many users always need more data too - they go over or restrict usage or pay wayy to much for top ups

I wonder if this could be done, or if there is even a market for it.

I'm from Canada and we get absolutely hosed for cell services - we pay on average $65-100 for a low end 3gig data plan per month. Our average prices are some of the highest in the world. So there is some interest here especially among students at my university.

I'm considering forming a Team here with my Graduate MBA class to tackle this and at least make a beta Proof of concept then maybe scaling it up

What do you guys think?

Any suggestions?

Thanks
B

The biggest issue i see with this great idea and I do mean it is a great idea....

However how would you tackle illegal activities on using other people connections, This seems to open a whole new can of worms in regards to liability.

AND don't forget this sounds like a proxy system if you are using other people's data that can't be bypassed without going through their Phone Service provider (which would be a logged connection from that device IMEI) you would be using their device as a gateway to access the internet.

The ONLY way I see this type of thing EVER working would be to set the whole network up as a TOR network of such and then have it use its own VPN connections encryption.

You could have a free service with NO VPN and a subscription (token service) with VPN.

I definitely look forward to see how this progresses.

Feel free to hit me up if you need to pick my brain more than happy to help for a small reward during you ICO phase haha Wink

What is the current token valuation?

None yet - i'm just spit balling

and yes I've thought a fair bit about a way around the whole security thing. The last thing the big Telcos want is for it's clients to begin using all the data they pay for.

I don't think it could be on an individual P2P exchange

If we had a central pool where we could all dump our excess data, via smart contract of course, and receive "This Token" in exchange.  Let's say 100 tokens = 1gigabite of data

Then people could sell Their tokens received to an interested buyer for X ( whatever the market dictates)

When the buyer receives his purchased tokens he could then redeem them in the central pool for the data amount.

Again I'm just thinking outloud here, but it is possible i believe.

Plz send critiques and comments and anything that comes to your mind here post away.
