I am have a copy of the private key through passphrase, but is Bitpay client wallet safe comes Segwit2X?

Their CEO seems to mention something contrary to supporting Segwitx2, iirc.

As long as you have the private key it isn't going to matter what wallet you use, the only thing you need to be careful of in the event of a chain split is replay attacks which is where they can resend the transaction on the other fork if u send a similar one on the other chain.

I think this question is also applicable to all standalone or offline wallet. First is the security and then the support on some standard BIP 9, BIP 148 BIP 149 etc. Some wallet are already supporting some of this protocol I think. Just be updated with your wallets announcement as there  are maybe some updates Announcement.

Thanks.

I've decided to move most of my funds away nonetheless.

Another reason was the copay/bitpay two version issue, and a client without password protection. Also because the team didn't come out and issue a decision about Segwit2X.

Kudos nonethless because bitpay felt like a super user friendly client with great UI/UX.

Why so? Your bitcoins on copay or bitpay will be safe, as they both store the private keys offline only. Even if they issue a decision about segwit2x it will be irrelevant since you get 2 versions of bitcoins anyway if ever a chain split happens since you have control over the private keys.

I will rather deposit all my bitcoins in address generated from bitaddress.org to remain in safe side before august 1st. Anyway if you have private key for your bitcoin address than you don't have to worry about losing anything in time of network split.

There are enough reminders out there for anyone to see that it's stupid and insane to keep your private keys in any exchange come august 26th, so just get your coins out immediately. It's time to leave all exchanges. No exchange is safe, all exchanges are a potential exit scam. Control your keys or face the consequences of not doing so. No exceptions.
