I've done exhaustive searches on this and it seems like everyone blames connection or something of that nature. I can tell you that my connection isn't the issue, and GUIminer is reporting 220Mh/s on a 6850 (950 OC GPU/330 UC memory). I mined for 3 hours, 0 shares accepted, 15 stale shares (after 3 stop/start minings after adjusting settings). I am getting a verfication error - check hardware! note on my console...after searching about that, apparently its a kernel thing with the GPU and isn't to be worried to much about...or is it?

It seems like people are reporting 100's of shares being accepted in short periods of time and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong? It seems like SO much information is outdated or not reported correctly surrounding the mining of bitcoin! Can anyone chime in and let me know with certainty what may be going on? I'm leaving it on overnight to see if anything changes...but I have a feeling when I check it in the morning nothing will have changed...

I verified all of my connection settings and it all looks great as far as I know. I was connecting to api.bitcoin.cz which was then diverting me to stratum I think...

Thanks for the help!

I would try removing the overclocking long enough to test it. I know if I try and push an overclock too hard, I get a ton of stales. Also, try other pools.

I had to try several pools before getting any positive results...

So try different pools besides slashes? Or try different pools within slashes? Why would that matter?

Also, my OC is pretty tame, 11% isn't pushing it that hard, I'll stick it back though just to test.

the reason most people dont help is the lack of info people give so far all i know is you cant get shares and your using xxxx GPU now from this i can think of about 20 problems the more detail included the better

Driver version?
GUIminer version?
pool settings?

at the very least try chainging from api.bitcoin.cz to
stratum.bitcoin.cz

Thanks for the help, driver is the latest, I think 13.4, guiminer is also the latest, pool settings? I'm pretty sure I'm connecting to "slush's pool" on the guiminer drop down. Using a 6850 1gb ddr5, pent dual core, 2.5gb ram. Everything was setup last night.

Just checked on the machine that ran overnight, no shares accepted still. Changing over to stratum...for some reason I seem to be getting 245 MH/s on stratum... or maybe its the -v flag

Here is what my console says if that helps

If it was purely a connection issue it would say "connection problem."  The fact that it says hardware error signifies that it is indeed, a hardware issue.

it could be the drivers a few people have been having problems with new drivers the latest recommended drivers for mining are 12.8 iv managed to get to 13.1 but anything after that fails to mine. maybe try uninstalling the ATI drivers

after uninstall use this tool to make sure theres nothing from AMD on your PC

then install driver 12.8 or if your feeling lucky 13.1

Ok, its solved now

Running 13.1 AMD drivers
Latest GUIminer connected to stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 - only flag is -v
MSI Afterburner set to 948 OC GPU / 330 UC GPU mem (HD6850)
Windows 7 64bit

Having shares accepted, no stales @ ~243 MHs

Thanks all for the help!

I'm running into the same problem except I'm using BTC Guild's version of GUI Miner and I'm not getting any shares completed. Though when I use it with coinotron it works so I guess I'm just going to stick with them mining terra coins.
